"GERRY!"

He made sure the jacket was properly around her face to protect it and held her close to his body before he began to charge through the burning building. Anatoly didn’t really question where this came from, this ability to take charge and this sense of no fear. Well…there was fear, but it was different. Instead of curling in his belly like lead, it gave him wings on his feet. He barreled his was through the raging inferno, busting the front door down with his shoulder and onto the sidewalk where the first firetrucks were showing up. He coughed and pulled the jacket away from Isla’s face a little so she could breath the cool night air. “See? Ve made it, Kroshka,”

Isla’s terror was only increased by the fact that she could no longer see, only hear the roar of the flames, taste the heat burning her lungs and feel the strange man (who may or may not have been a man intrinsically linked to her friend’s abuse) holding her tightly to his chest. It was as if she were no more than a rag doll, the way he carried her through the burning bar as if she were lighter than air and she clung to him, having no choice otherwise. Her head felt light as she was jerked in his arms, sound growing and fading strangely; Anatoly’s coughs, the crackles, the distant sound of sirens.

It seemed like an age before the cool night air hit her skin and the coat was ripped from her face. Her head lolled back as lights spun before her eyes, her body wracking with coughs and the nerves from the last ten minutes making her want to throw up. A small groan left her mouth as the sirens filled her head. “Th-than… Where’s… R-Rose, she… In the bar…”

The girl started to choke and cough and Anatoly set her on feet. She must have inhaled a lot of smoke in that closet. He stuck close to her, hearing the distant wail of sirens. Anatoly would make sure she got looked after by the paramedics that were sure to arrive. He brushed her hair back as she coughed so hard she vomited, wishing he could get her some water or something. “I am not sure,’ He answered as she asked about Medusa. “I vas not seeing anyone vhen I entered. She may have gotten out already,”

"GERRY!"

isla-delany:

Isla barely had time to register what was being asked of her before she was hoisted up into the man’s arms. Another bolt of panic went through her, prompting another round of burning coughs, and her body went rigid, disliking the contact but not really having much choice about it. She pressed the coat to her face and nodded, her throat constricting in terror. We’re gonna die. We are gonna die.

He made sure the jacket was properly around her face to protect it and held her close to his body before he began to charge through the burning building. Anatoly didn’t really question where this came from, this ability to take charge and this sense of no fear. Well…there was fear, but it was different. "GERRY!"

Isla, (locked in the store cupboard, as if a lock would stop the flames from getting to her) screamed out again, becoming steadily more terrified as the seconds passed and the sound of crackling got closer. Smoke had already been furling through the door for several minutes, making her cough and press her sleeve to her mouth and nose, her eyes stinging.

It didn’t feel right taking the night off while Medusa was still working. It was Anatoly’s job to look after the bar while it was opened and if she was there then technically it was still open.

He left his small, studio apartment, traveling down to the bar when he saw it engulfed in flames. “Bozhiyey Materi!” He exclaimed as he swerved in front of the building, not caring if he was legally parked or not and burst in through the doors.

Anatoly almost didn’t hear the girl’s cries over the roar of the flames. He marched to store doors where the cries seem to be coming from. That wasn’t Medusa’s voice. It was one of her girls, “Hello? This is Anatoly! I am going to be kicking in door. Get back!” He hollared through the thick wood.

She bobbed her head but her smile faltered just a hair when the man didn’t seem to catch onto the little game of tease she was playing. Of course Laela remembered that he had amnesia but that was covered in the hospital and he should remember her from what little she told him at least. Or was he too playing another game with her that she didn’t get? “Now what would make you think that? I could just a be a lonely travelling creature.”

"Nyet," He chuckled, his eyes shining as he looked down at her. "Traveling, lonely creatures do not look like you. Lovely creatures like you vill alvays be surrounded by people, Kroshka, very hard to be lonely,"

"Is meaning "hello", Kroshka," He chuckled. He let a grin split his rougish face, enjoying the way her face looked as she repeated the word back to him like a bird. He rather liked it. "Do you know vhat Kroska is meaning?" He asked.

Mentally Laela gave herself a pat on the back, relief that at least she got that word right and she chuckled softly at the nickname. Though it was foreign to her, hearing it from the Russian made her feel special and she liked that. “Yes.. Yes I do. Someone always called me that.” There was a cheeky grin on her face, hoping that he’d catch on to her little joke.

“Oh, are they?” He asked. He couldn’t feel a little disappointed. He was hoping to tell her. Perhaps she had a boyfriend that called her that. Oh well, you couldn’t win them all, Anatoly thought. “Vell, I am not being surprised. That someone must be caring very much you,”

"Vell, can’t be too bad…da?" The man murmured to himself as he followed the red head into the bar.

Laela gasped as she unceremoniously stumbled into another person while she was walking with her head lowered so no paparazzi could find her. Though she was with luck today since there were none though she still wanted to be safe. “God.. I am so sorry! I wasn’t looking and I just…” She trailed off when she lifted her blue eyes to find that she had stumbled into a very familiar face. This situation entirely familiar. “Oh hello.”

Anatoly took the elbows of a young woman that stumbled into him and looked over in concern, “Are you alright?” She was pretty and he was suddenly starting to warm up to his job. “Da, Privet,” He said with a little smile.
